- Introduction
- Introduction includes the objectives and rationales of the study. Recent publications supporting the study are to be included, but data and results of the study are not.
- Materials and Methods
- Materials or subjects of the study should be clearly designated. Main characteristics of the study subjects, i.e. age and gender, should be included. Experimental methods, devices (information of manufacturer), procedures should be described clearly and should be reproducible. Generic names should be used for all medicines and chemicals, and dosage and administration method should be described.
- Results
- Results should be shown with the text, graphs, tables, and images. Legends for the illustrations should not be redundant in the main body, but the significant findings can be summarized at the end.
- Discussion
- Discussion should include the significant and creative findings of the study and should not be redundant in the introduction. Perspectives on the meaning of the study, limitation, suggestion of the following studies can be included. Comparison with other related studies can be included. Conclusion without definite background should not be made.
- References
- References should be numbered consecutively as they are cited in the text, tables and figures.
- Journal names are abbreviated according to the list of journals indexed in Index Medicus.
- Personal communications, unpublished data, manuscripts in preparation, or manuscripts submitted for publication are not acceptable for the references but may be cited parenthetically in the text.
- When there are more than six authors, the additional authors should be listed as "et al."
- References follow the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (as cited in Ann Intern Med, 1997; 126: 36-47).
- Epub: A paper published online but not in print can be cited using the Digital Object Identifier (DOI). A web document can be cited as well, using the URL address.
